BOTOX® is used to erase wrinkles and relax muscles in specific facial areas such as vertical forehead, frown creases and crows-feet around the eyes.
BOTOX® is injected directly into the frown muscle or the wrinkle area. Within 24-72 hours the muscles will relax and the wrinkles and frown disappear. The frustrated, tired and angry look on the face will disappear and you will look younger with a smoother skin.
It takes few minutes to inject BOTOX® and its effects last for few months (3-6 months). The treatment has to be repeated as the wrinkles or frown will re-appear. With repeated injection the effects might stay longer.
There have been no reports of permanent damage caused by the injection of BOTOX®. Local bruise at the site of injection or slight drop of the eyelid are usually temporary side effects in some cases. In general, the use of BOTOX® has proved to be safe.
Areas that can be treated with Botox:
Vertical forehead lines
Lines between the eyebrows
Lines "crows feet" around the eyes
EyeBrow Lift
Excessive Sweating: Botox is very successful at reducing excessive sweating in the armpits or palms
Frequently Asked Questions:
Is BOTOX® Safe? BOTOX® treatments have been used over the years to safely and effectively treat many ophthalmologic and neurologic conditions. Thousands of patients receive BOTOX® every year and it has become a popular treatment for reversing the signs of aging.
What are the side effects? The most common side effect is temporary bruising at one or more of the injection sites. This can be covered with make-up. On occasion, the BOTOX® can migrate (leak) into nearby muscles causing temporary weakness. There are rare cases of drooping of an eyelid or asymmetry of facial expression. The chance of experiencing a side effect depends which muscles are injected. Any side effect is temporary, as the effects of BOTOX® are completely reversible.
How should I expect to look? BOTOX® can give you a more youthful appearance by smoothing out the dynamic wrinkles. Static wrinkles that are due to aging and sun damaged skin will not be affected as they are not caused by facial expressions. BOTOX® does not tighten skin or replace the need for laser resurfacing or a facelift. It is often used in conjunction with other procedures though, such as laser wrinkle reduction, laser resurfacing or collagen injections, for a combined effect.
